Possible to set tab size of QTabWidget

hi, during the development of qt4.6 the size of the tabs have changed. more space have been added between the text and edges of the tabs. i knew before i started to use 4.6 that there would be changes along the way, and ive updated my app accordingly to the changes.
but as the tabs has gotten bigger ive run out of space for them, do anyone know how to remove the "spacing" between the text and edges of the tabs?
- yes i know i can add scrollbuttons, but this takes up space on its own and is not that easy to use with only fingers.

any info would be highly appreciated.

You can use style rule something like that:

QTabBar::tab { min-width: 100px; min-width: 50px; }
