New Version Notification to User

Hello Nokia,

Lets suppose that i have uploaded an application to Nokia Ovi and it is live(version 1.0).
(a) If i will upload a new version, lets say version 1.1 does the user is notified for the update?
(b) If is an application that costs an amount of money, user pays again the updated version?
(c) The application update procedure(if there is any) is different for WRT, j2me, Flash and Symbian apps?

a) No, Ovi will not notify user for updates. But you can implement a code in your app that will check if new version is available.
b) If user is going to purchase updated version from Ovi, he will pay for the app. But if your app checks for updates (as in (a) section), user can download free updated version of app from your server.
c) I guess it depends on what you want to update. This could be useful article for you

I thinks this should be answered here in the forum, will save us developers the pain of waiting a lot of time waiting for a response from Ovi Publish Support and also yourself or support team writing mail for everyone asking the same question.
This is a common question asked on a lot of threads but not clear answer is given anywhere

just an idea, maybe it would be great if this info could be also included in the Publisher_Guide.pdf with detailed info on app upgrade:
a) whether users are notified or not of app upgrades
b) if it is allowed that developers provide in-app upgrades or auto-updates
c) suggestions/guidelines for application version-ing when a content file is updated
d)if updating content version affects users that already paid for that application/content
e) how users of paid apps are affected by updates (do they have to pay updates or not)
f) how old content is affected when submitting new one
and so on...
I believe that if this information is provided it will save a lot of time for the developers and support team alike.
