    Hi,
I'm not sure If it's the good place to post it.

But I wanna build a custom viewfinder that use the camera wrapper as an api bridge for a wrt widget. I would Like to know if it's possible or it there is some example about it ? I made a quick search in the samples but I didn't found a way to pass a screen zone to the bridge to use it for display from the c++ part of the code. I saw that it was possible to use the view finder, but only the a native one ?

Before to realy start I just would like to know if it was possible, to avoid wasting to much time if it's not.

I need a custom viewfinder because I have to make some image analyse before drawing it, it's probably the better way to do it from the c++ part.

    Thank you.

After some research, here is where I am :

I think it's totaly possible. But it seems tricky. Here is what I've planned. Any advise could perhaps help me.

    Building the api:
    - Using as base, a part of the camera_wrapper example
    - Change it to juste make it possible to run, make a quick shot, and close himself
    - change it to a dll compatible with the api bridge (plugin). (ECOM registration, add the return values,...)
    - Change it to force foreground when activate.
    - Add some data analyse I have to do on the picture.
// So actual I'll perhaps just need to take the container/view,.. containing the wrapper calls,... Didn't looked in it in details

    Building the widget:
    - okay probably not a lot to do here, it's all about testing the custom api.

    Distribution:
    - So, I have to build a package, that contain, my widget, my dll plugin, the bridge_api1.1*, and the camerawrapper*.
    * must be installed only if not already installed.

    --

    - I never build any dll or plugin for symbian, I didn't try to distribute a widget neither (only did some for my personal use, without using any platforme request).

    - I hope this can be possible to put this on the ovi store... Is the store already accepts wrt with included plugins ?

    - Did I have to sign/test my component separatly ?

    --

So if someone has any advice, critics or think it's actualy not possible, I would be happy to know about it.

    Thank you.

    Hi prog.ahmedsamir,

For now I didn't go further.

I started the soft adaptation. Finally started it in the other way. Instead of modifing the example to turn it into a dll, I started to modify the bride sample example to turn it in a camera application. I presume that if I create a view and activate it, the widget will go in background and my new view will come in forground.

I didn't had a lot of time to work on it for now, so I can't realy help you. I'll continue to work on it the next week.

I always don't know if it's possible or not, but when I'll have some news I'll try to update this post with my next tests
