Welcome to forum Nokia. You need to setup couples pf softeare in your PC.

1: Install S60 3rd SDK in your PC,, you can download from

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n...16-3.0-mr.html

2: Install Carbide in your PC:

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n...119a2b4cb.html

Now you can create application through Carbide IDE by using SDK components.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,

    Thanks for your reply.

Using the Carbide IDE and S60 3rd SDK, can i develop an application on Nokia E63 to measure the sound (in decibels) recorded by the E63's microphone?

Appreciate if you can advise me. Thanks.

Yes you can, but first you need to read about symbian OS architecture, Symbian API use.

    Hi Amit,

I have installed the S60 3rd SDK FP1 and Carbide C++ and ActivePerl in my PC (Windows XP Home SP2).

I tried to run the Hello World Basic sample on the S60 emulator using command lines on the PC. I'm following the instructions in
    S60 SDK Installation Guide.

Below are the command lines (in DOS prompt on my PC) i have tried:

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>bldmake bldfiles

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>abld build
    make -r -f "\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\EPOC32\BUILD\Symbian
    \9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60
    Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group\EXPORT.make" EXPORT VERBOSE=-s
    Nothing to do

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>epoc

The nokia emulator started but i could not find the Hello World Basic Application icon in the emulator.

    Can you kindly advise me?
    Greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.

    Hi,

In the emulator, i clicked on Menu button and i saw 'Installed' folder. I clicked on this 'Installed' folder and saw 'App. Mgr' and 'Go to' folders. But i could not see the Hello World application icon in these 2 folders.

I checked all other menu folders but could not see Installation folder. I am using S60 SDK 3rd Edition FP1.

Pls advise if there is anything which i have done incorrect and not able to see the Hello World in the emulator. Appreciate your help.

    Thanks and Regards.

    Hi,

I managed to figure out the Hello World application in emulator:

After i clicked on Start > All Programs > Nokia > Carbide.c++ > Configure environment for WINSCW command line, a DOS window appears with it performing configurations.

After that i run the Hello World from command line again:

    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>bldmake bldfiles
    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>abld build
    C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\S60Ex\HelloWorldBasic\group>epoc

I am able to find the HelloWorld application icon in the emulator Menu > Installed folder.

Thanks for your help so far.
