    Hello,

I'm develloping a J2ME application. This app will only be installed on phones (nokia 6212 classic nfc) which belong to my organisation.
The app is fully functional and there is no bug. But as i have to access to data stored on the phone's memory card, i have to accept each time a security notification.
I know that i have to sign my application but my questions are :

1)Am I obligated to use an orgaisation like verisign to sign my app ? The app will only be installed on our phones and will not be availlable for the public.

2)I have create a .crt file whith keytools etc..., How do I install it on my phone? I have puted it on the memory but i cannot open it in the phone.

    Hey Alex,

Welcome to Forum Nokia Discussion Boards!!
1.Yeah, well there are a few organizations who provide the certificate in order to get the apps as signed.

    2.Which phone?
Which files, you have to put both the files and you must install using the jad file?

but i cannot open it in the phone.
What is the problem for this?
    Thanks with Regards,

The phone is a nokia 6212, i need it to use RFID technology. I have all the phones(30) and the app will be installed nowhere else so i think my own certificat is good enough.

    Hi,

For installing the cerifcate on your phone just copy the certificate at any preferred lacation on phone. And then open it using the device's File Explorer. On Opening the certificate it will ask for installing the certificate on phone.

But as per my experience, this approach of using our own certificates for signing not always works.

    Regards,
    Aditya

    Tank u aditya.

I've already tried this way. I think it is my certificate that'is not good.
I've export it with the keytool command line.

But i cant open it in the filesystem.

Yes. You must use a certificate that matches the code-signing certificates pre-installed on your device.

You cannot. It is not possible to add your own code-signing certificates.

Start by reading this introduction, and all the articles linked from there.

Before spending any money, make sure you're buying what you need. Signing MIDP applications is a simple process, but a complicated subject, and best avoided if possible.
