Nokia 6212 - JSR177 & JSR257 access to smart cards

Hi,

With the new Nokia 6212 supporting JSR177 and JSR257, I'm wondering whether it is possible to access perform the following connection matrix

- JSR 257 - ISO14443Connection to open connection to USIM
- JSR 177 - APDUConnection to open connection to Embedded SE

Another question would be, in such event which JSR has the higher priority?

Well the 6212 does not support a connection to the USIM (as far as I know), thus you will only be able to open the connetion to the embedded se.

Hi, I have problem getting the emulator of 6212 NFC SDK to communicate with the external card reader.

Here is the output:

The card reader is CardMan5321. It worked perfectly fine with the 6131 NFC SDK emulator. It also passed card reading tests on the OMNIKey Diagnostic tool. The only thing I suspect is that I had installed JDK 6.0 update 11 as required for the 6212 SDK. JDK 6.0 has its own JSR-268 Java Card I/O API. I wonder if it caused any conflict with the PC/SC driver of the CardMan 5321 card reader.

When I started the emulator, the NFCManager does show the 6212 phone in blue color, which means it does link up with the emulated phone. But for some reason the 6212 emulator can not communicate with the external card reader.

I tried many things: start the SDK emulator from command line; configuring the NFCMAnager, the emulator, Attache the external reader to the phone as embedded smart card, re-installing the 5321 driver, etc. None of these helped, the PC/SC error showed consistently: Smart card communication error 0x80100017.

Do you ever see this problem on the 6212 SDK emulator?

Although the PC/SC smart card communication 0x08000017 error is always showing when SDK emulator starts up, after attaching the external reader to the emulator instance in NFCManager, my running midlet can indeed communicate to the external smart card acting as the embedded SE through the CardMan 5321 card reader.

It is indeed very confusing to see the PCSC 0x08000017 error comes up every time.
I just have to simply ignore the error for now.

Hi.

Looking for some info regarding supportability between Nokia 6212 and a USIM card. As you said there geri-m, you didn't think 6212 support a connection to the USIM. What's the staus today on this?

My problem is; from a java applet connect to a USIM with WPKI and use the signing/verification that are inbedded in the USIM. Have used the 6131, but the lack of implementation for SATSA-APDU is missing, and thus to that impossible. I know that SATSA-APDU and -WPKI is implemented in 6212, but could I access the USIM from a midlet with this phone today?

Someone who got some idees?
