j2me read imei from midlet

A few years ago were threads related to reading a unique ID from a phone using a j2me midlet. Calling System.getProperty("com.nokia.mid.imei"); returns null on an N95. Some threads indicated you need a signed midlet to get this info. Has anything changed regarding this?

Likewise, is there still no way to get the phone's wifi mac address in j2me?

In Symbian platform devices starting from S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2, it is possible to retrieve the IMEI value without any signing. Unfortunately this is not enabled in your target device N95 (=S60 3rd Ed., FP1 device).
