M4A playing. Is that possible?

Hi everyone. I've faced the problem m4a playing. I tried to use CMdaAudioOutputStream by setting KMMFFourCCCodeAAC data type but it leaved with KErrNotSupported. Seems like system just has no such codek. But m4a (and other unsupported) are played with standart built in player just fine. Does built-in player just uses some 3rd party functionality or it uses system API? If someone succeeded to play m4a via any system API PLZ HELP!!!

KErrNotSupported propably means that the file you are trying to play does not have codecs available in the device.

Actually KErrNotSupported is thrown even before play attempt. It happens when call CMdaAudioOutputStream::SetDataTypeL. Seems like even KMMFFourCCCodeAAC value is not supported o_O

Which built-in player do you mean?

Default system player. It can be launched by selecting any music file in file manager.

ok, I'm not so certain on streaming APIs format supports, so can you use normal file-based audio players instead ?

Nope, the point is to use API and play m4a using custom player.

Note that there is a music player in the open source Symbian code (http://developer.symbian.org, Source / Browse code), you may get some ideas from it. In the cross-referencer you can also search for KMMFFourCCCodeAAC, and check if it is used somewhere.

Yeah, but it means to find out how works internal Symbian player and copy all that functionality to my app. At least this is too difficult. Moreover i doubt that there are all LIB files are available for that functionality.

I'm interested in any public API (available to developer) to be able to play m4a.
