    Hi,

What i want is to give my application localized names based on device's current locale as specified on:

    http://library.forum.nokia.com/index...E7FC70235.html

Now the problem is for locale hindi i am not able to specify application name in Hindi. How to specify midlet name in Hindi for Hindi Locale in the JAD? I have tried various unicode formats. But Nothing seems to be working.

    Hello Aditya,

please note that this is available on Nokia devices for Series 40 and Symbian platforms since Series 40 5th Edition FP 1 and Symbian^3 (JRT 2.1).

Are you using such a device?

    Regards,

try unicode encoding for hindi character with \u formating. I have used \u00A9 for copywrite character in the jad for Midlet-Description attribute before.

Also check that you are testing with Hindi set as default locale on your S40 5th Ed FP1 or better S40 6th edition device.

    thanks,
    Ekta

yes,i am using Nokia 7610 Supernova(S40 5th Ed FP1) for testing and i have tried using unicode in fromat of \u00A9 but instead of showing character associated with that unicode, unicode value is shown in the application name.

For reference please find the JAD/Manifest attributes that i have used:

    Nokia-MIDlet-1-hi-IN: \u00A9, TestPIM.png, TestPIM
    MIDlet-Jar-Size: 2099
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: TestPIM.jar
    MIDlet-Name: TestPIM
    Nokia-MIDlet-Name-hi-IN: \u00A9
    MIDlet-Vendor: Unknown
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.1
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.1

Please suggest. I have got out of options and time.

    Regards,
    Aditya Kumar Binju

    Aditya,

This is a copywrite character '\u00A9' I have used it in the Midlet-Description attribute before, please try in that attribute and see does your device display it as a character or as it is?

    thanks,
    Ekta

    Hi,

Finally i was able to get solution of this issue..

We are required to add the text in the regional language itself(i.e not in unicode format) and save the file in UTF-8 format.

    Cheers,
    Aditya Kumar Binju
