Package application with qtmobility-location dependency

Hi there

I have created a QT application and it runs fine on the device. I have also created a debian package and it installs fine onto the device. However, I would like to distribute this to other N900 users, but if they dont have qtmobility-location installed, the application I created fails to install because this dependency isnt met.

Is it possible to add this dependency to the package so when they attempt to install it, if the qtmobility-location package isnt installed, it gets installed and then my application?

If so, could anyone give me some pointers?

You can install Qt Mobility Location with a command:

apt-get update
apt-get install libqtm-location

The device must be connected to the network in any possible way.

Yes, I'm aware its possible to install it before installing the package. But is there a way to combine the two?


I am looking to send this application to users that dont really go into the terminal, so a one click solution is what I'm after.

Edit the debian/control file and add libqtm-location to your applications Depends: line. This way when the application is installed, missing dependencies like libqtm-location are installed automatically.

You can upload your application to extras-devel repository, produce install file and distribute the link to the users.
