full and trial versions UID's

Hello, just need some clarification.

Wanting to submit an application to OVI with full version and trial version, do they both need to have two different UID's (Symbian)? Is it possible at all to have the full and trial versions with same UID?
If different UID's, then both of them have to be Symbian Signed seperatley, is that right?

Both have to be signed separately and with different UIDs (they're different apps, after all).

Nope, actually you can have same UID, just make some build logic to build trial version to have trial functionality. That way when users update to teh full version, it will remove the trial, and leave only the full version. Though do test before signings that all are working fine.

However, if there's then a reason to have both the free/trial and the commercial/full version installed on the same device, using the same UID will prevent that. Typically, of course, only developers would need to do so, but there might be situations where a regular user might need or want to do so, too.

Thank you for your answers. That's what I thought.

I just realised that the OVI store doesn't really offer to have a full and trial version for one product. Trial versions are classified as seperate applications, alongside the free applications. That's why they are sometimes called [product name] Lite, to distinguish them from truely free applications.
This is not a good thing in my opinion, anyway thank you.
