Hi,
even though this is a Nokia paidfor board, I thought that you guys may be interested to hear that QT 4.6.3 now also works on SE phones.
I tested it on the Vivaz - while you get a crate of errors during installation, the apps work fine.

what was the exact error you are getting ?
Hi,
it was some error about a SIS not being suitable - but nothing critical.
Should I try to undig the video of the install for you?

Hi Tam,
Smart Installer creates log files under C:\Logs\ADM\, it would be great to have them and see what kind of errors you are seeing with it. He have run no tests on Sony Ericsson or Samsung phones and although the solution should work there too, we would need your help in order to iron out those glitches you speak of.

Hi,
lovely. The official management didnt tell me that, and the Vivaz is 500km away from me.
Lucian, send me an email re this and I will try to catch the Vivaz as soon as I can catch my CFO again!
P.S: It wasnt the Smart Installer. It was the regular qt_installer...

I'm only interested in Smart Installer really, but if there are any problems with the standard package on Sony Ericsson you can post your feedback at http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com

Hi Luciano,
you are very lucky - the CFO is in hospital, and cannot get away from me.
So: send me ANY smart installer enabled and properly sigfned file to tamhan at tamoggemon dot com and I will test it tomorrow evening!
All the best
Tam Hanna

Hi Luciano,
took me long time - sorry.
I have now tried the Smart Installer, as it is Ovi certified...and the installation failed. And, I cannot see the logs folder you mentioned using the Vivazs file manager.
I have a video for you, which I can send per email. The strange thing is that the device says that "BallZ Installer" were installed...but the app is nowhere to be found.
With compliments
Tam

It does make sense if you think about it, but maybe you missed some error report.
"BallZ Installer" does get installed all the time, you can see it in the App Manager. However, it contains no app so nothing will be showing-up in the menu. What it contains is a binary file (a sis) and the smart installer bootstrap, which is supposed to kickstart the install process. However, that bootstrap should detect your phone as not supported and display an appropriate error message.
The execution stages are as follows:
Code:- wrapper package being installed - bootstrap components starts -wrapper package install ends -bootstraps validates device - if !supported, exit - wrapper package remains installed, must be un-installed manually - bootstrap checks online for latest Smart Installer ADM and compares with the one existing on device (if any) - Smart Installer ADM is updated if needed - Smart Installer ADM is started, verifies the dependencies, downloads and installs needed components then installs your app - Smart Installer ADM uninstalls the wrapper package
