Listbox icon(array) caching

Hello,
I want to cache the icons from a listbox but there is no option to set the ownership of the array, like the setownership method for the text array. I see only two options to get the icon array cached:
1.) don't delete the listbox object
2.) overwrite the itemdrawer
Are there better options to cache the icon array?

Although ownership of the array is transferred unconditionally, you can still cache the icons themselves in a separate array or set of variables (since CGulIcon can be told that it does not own the bitmaps).
