I am sorry if the question is off the topic.
But i am used to asking in this site and all answers are very helpful to me.
    Thanks for that.

As far as I understand, JDk is the java development kit and which is used to develop java programs.
It include compiler and jre and so on.

What is IDE? From the book, I understand that it is indegrated environment to develop a program so I thought that all necessary things will include in that.

Now I am using eclipse-pulsar-galileo-win 32. I before thought that it is IDE, so I don't need to install jdk. But I need to install that. I have not tested it is ok or not without JRE. I think it should be because we don't use any jvm . We just use jvm from the phone/ simulator.

We also have to install sdk for simulator. Right?
    I have installed sun_java_me_sdk-3_0-win.

IDE is an intregrated development envirnoment, in which you have add the basic infrastructure of the platform that you want to develop on.
For Example - eclipse-pulsar-galileo-win 32 is an IDE - this works in Java so you need at least JRE to be installed on the system where you want to run it,
Now if you want to develop java apps on it, it will also need JDK - which will provide things like JAVAC - java compiler etc, and within Java you want to develop for a target MIDP 2.0 / CLDC 1.1 device for which you need eclipse-pulsar-galileo-win 32 and its simulator for testing. Even for runing these Simulators also you need JVM on the PC.
    thanks,

IDE is just an environment , not s/w. It just integrate available tool and s/w as jvm, compiler, debugger and so on?

I have installed the sun_java_me_sdk-3.0 win. I thought the JVM must be in that sdk because the emulator is in that sdk.
If so why i need to install JRE separately?

IDE is just an environment , not s/w.
Wrong IDE is a Software that on its own provides you with a Text Editor to edit your program code and it integrate available tool and s/w as jvm, compiler, debugger and so on.

If you install just the SDK on your system without JAVA on it, you will require to Load JDK or JRE to run the SDK emulator.
    Thanks,
    Ekta
