Failure to delete posts/threads

I tried to delete my own thread and it said I can't do it. If I can't, why am I allowed to try in the first place (i.e. why do I get a deletion button and a description field)?

I tried to delete my own thread and it said I can't do it. If I can't, why am I allowed to try in the first place (i.e. why do I get a deletion button and a description field)?

The problem is if you delete your own messages any replies to it are also deleted. Sometimes those are very valuable. What you should do is simply go and edit the message to say Delete this Message
