    Hi,
I was wondering, is a Java app allowed which actually does nothing more than opening a specific url ?
Thus a J2ME app, with no GUI, which starts up and internally calls the Browser to open a specific url and closes itself down right away?
Something like the WebIcon from the BlackBerry platform...
I have read the Java app should have a Help and About somewhere, so if I incorporate those into the opened website would that be accepted ?
I'd like to know all this before I even start making an OVI account...
    Thanks in advance..
Note: please don't send private questions to me, as I don't have time to provide private support. All such questions should be posted on public forums, where I and others can see and answer them.

    Probably.

I have an app in Ovi without Help. But: as Champion, free Ovi should be part of the launchpad!

I would basically ask that directly from the support email: publishtoovi.support@nokia.com, they should be able to tell you the excat story, and you could propably use their answer if the QA starts to give you headache..

For Champions specific questions, you should know who to contact by email.. Also do note that members not being Champions (see the line under the username), might not know all details of the Champion program, also note that Tamhanna was using a word "should ".

    Hi,
it is - AFAIK - like this. If you are launchpad member, Ovi is free.

Can you buy discounted devices? Yes -> LP member.

    At least AFAIK...

I would assume the LP would give you discounted devices, though as I don't have visibility to Ovi (not being official support person), I'm not knowing on the ovi thing for thrm. As well as by only being hang-around member for Champions, I'm not sure what benefits (vs. launchpad) they might have, anyway, both of the programs has their own official support persons who would know the definitive answers better.

    Hi Yucca,
AFAIK, Launchpad offers free Ovi. I was told that by Nokia Vienna just a few days ago, at least!

See the latest Forum Nokia newsletter on free (or assisted) signing and opening the Ovi store to independent developers.
