Dictionary Compresed database

Hi...
I am currently developing j2me application Dictionary . i want to my word data in compressed file like
(.DAT)
but how to create .dat file and how to store data in that.

some one sugges me use program debug database please help me What is program debug database and it is possible parshing data in j2me.

Hi,
AFAI If you have a file i.e Your words in a file if you build your jar application , You might be using the absificator it will compress the file . You no need to bother about that. If you want to reduce still use GZIP the file and In the client You need to wrtite GZIP decoder .

Just to add : Once you have the Data file; you can package it along with the Jar file (may be in resource folder); and during runtime you can use getResourceAsStream() to access file stored inside the JAR file.

And to add some more... on many devices, you will need enough free heap memory to load the entire file before you call getResourceAsStream() even if you don't want to load the entire file. If you cannot guarantee this, you might want to split the data file into smaler pieces.
