    Hi,
In my j2me application, I am downloading contacts from the server and trying to write it on my device.
When running with S-60 simulator there is no problem, but when I run the application on Nokia-E71,
after I tries to write a contact on device it gives an alert-

    Update 'contact name' in contacts?

And I don't want this popup...

I want quick update of all contacts from server without asking user confirmation.

Is it device related or something different?

Do I need to have some application setting to allow writes? But they are there.

    or some code changes?

nost probably not code-wise, because you cannot get or grant any security rights through code...
Many of these security issues (like retrieving, writing or deleting contacts, but also files, or network connectivity) can be solved by signing your app...
I'm not sure if that's the case with the Contacts, I have never written an app which uses Contacts so
Anyways, I'd advise you to have a look at the Wiki and search for signing midlets...

    Hi,

Does someone has any work-around for this problem of "Update 'xyx-xyx' in contacts".
This problem is only for Nokia. My application is working fine on LG device.

    Thanks.

    This is a known issue
    http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...iting_PIM_data
No workaround available (even on E71, as your will not be signed with the manufacturer certificate)

    Thanks for the reply.
My application is signed with Verisign.
Does Nokia provide any certificate/signing to overcome this problem?. If yes then will you please give me some information from where we can purchase this.

    Thanks.

As stated in the known issue and in my reply, there is no workaround or way to overcome this. Unfortunately.
Yes, the known issue mentions that on 3rd Edition FP 1 devices (like E71) manufacturer signed MIDlets will not experience this. However in reality a 3rd party MIDlet developer will not be able to get MIDlets signed with Nokia certificate - that is for Nokia MIDlets only (roughly speaking).
