Nokia WRT/QtWebKit

Hi,


what is the major difference between both web kits/runtimes - Nokia WRT and QtWebKit? I plan to try to develop web application for Symbian and as I have read the Nokia WRT engine will be dropped in Symbian^4 since the future lies in QtWebKit, so it probably makes sense to start directly with QtWebKit, isn't it?

With the Nokia WRT widgets I do not require any native code - is that true also for the QtWebKit?

The QtWebKit should support the HTML5 - is that true? Does it support the offline manifest and localStorage?

Sorry for probably quite simple questions I can find answers on the Nokia pages...

Well it is still a proposal, but it comes from Nokia...

2/ Open "Common Web Runtime"
3/ Open the PDF inside. There is written:

"...Adoption of Qt Application and UI framework on Symbian^4 provides a natural discontinuity for the
current S60 WRT and creates an opportunity to deploy Qt based, cross platform capable and
industry standards compliant common WRT. S60 WRT is not build on top of Qt. Thus, cWRT will
replace S60 WRT in Symbian ^4 and S60 WRT will not continue beyond Symbian^3..."

Expected feature deprecations include:
• Support for S60 Platform Services 1.0 is not planned in Symbian ^ 4. This means that applications
depending on the Platform Services 1.0 API’s will need to update their interface to Platform
Services 2.0. Platform Services 2.0 API’s that are supported in S60 WRT1.1 will continue to be
supported in cWRT
• Current S60 Widget apps as such will not run on top of cWRT for example due widget packaging
format will be changed from Nokia proprietary specification to be aligned with W3C widget
packaging format.

Please correct me if I am wrong in my opinion...
