How can I get Series 40 release (e.g. 5th or 6th Edition)?

Hello,

I would like to get the precise release of the device my application is running on. For S60 the microedition.platform gives full information, but for S40 it gives only the device model and firmware version. Is there an indirect but reliable way to get this? Is there a document that indicates system property values returned by each S40 release?

I need this because there are some differences in JSR-75 (PIM) implementation between S40 5th Edition and 6th Edition, and my application should take them into account.

This doesn't answer my question. I need a way to programmatically distinguish between 5th and 6th Edition. I won't compare model name to the full list of models belonging to an edition!

If those are not enough, you could search for "UAProf" and "HTTP_USER-AGENT" and trying to grab the info server-side, and then return the info to the application.
