I seemed to get a little further trying to build a .deb file for release in the Ovi store on Maemo devices, at least I saw a .deb file in the project. I did change the setting for the project to "Release" for Maemo. It generated a new and much larger .deb file but I got the following errors when trying to upload to the Ovi store.

There were some validation errors! Further details are by the fields.

    Alert: File format: .deb

    Any tips, ideas, advice?

    Dave

Hi, Welcome to Forum Nokia Discussions board.
There are not any descriptions of file formats to upload for Ovi Store and you may need to contact Ovi Store about uploading for the N900.Currently there are only 7 apps for N900 on Ovi store.

For checking if the file format is correct and can be downloaded on the N900.
Transfer the .deb file to N900 by anyway you like ftp etc.
then log open application manager select the .deb file from N900 filesystem
then look for errors in details tab. This will show any problems.
Then install the .deb file should load correctly

If you need to load in X-term via root
    dpkg -i file.deb

If this works but not UI app loader then this will fail Ovi QA.

Even when you have loaded the N900 file to Ovi Store QA may not accept this.
Publish to Ovi Store Discussion group

    Thanks,
    Jim
