ovi maps GPS doesn't work

Hello,
I have a problem with Nokia C5 Ovi maps. My gps strenght bar is gone from the bottom right corner.. and there's now a strange symbol next to "0,0 kb". Also my gps doesn't work anymore... Can any one please help me to get the gps bar back ? I did a picture also from screen: http://yfrog.com/j7img9394mj

First things first, this is a forum for application developers so if you are not interested in creating a better Ovi Maps -type application then you are on the wrong site. Try instead the Support link at http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps or try discussing with other users at http://www.nokia.com/discussions.

There could be many reasons for which your GPS does not work (at at least appears to be so). For example the positioning method(s) may have been disabled in phone's settings or you really have some hardware issue. Note that the GPS signal cannot be easily received indoors (if at all) and A-GPS or Network Based Positioning requires a data connection. Check your phone's settings and, if nothing works, contact Nokia Care or the closest official service point.

The strange symbol you are seeing is not strange at all. Find the user guide(online at http://europe.nokia.com/support/prod...t/c5-00/guides) an at page 16 (English variant) you will find several versions of the parallel arrows indicator for connections. In your case the indicator is barred so it indicates that the application works in offline mode (i.e. no active data connection) and thus no map data is being downloaded from the servers. This however has nothing to do with GPS or A-GPS, they have different settings, as you can find from the user guide, starting with page 53 (English version).

sorry but i couldn't manage to bring back my gps strenght bar... I read the manual, also in my country version but i couldn't get any smarter. I had the gps strenght bar but... now it's gone. Maybe i accidentally changed some settings... Anyway i don't know how to restore it. Also when i go in my device to the Menu --> Ovi maps, there's written above "Please log in"...?
