For opening the email client we are using the “QDesktopService:penurl” api provided by QT.
While doing research on this I have found that the above mentioned call does not work for Symbian devices and there is already a bug reported for the same on the official Qt site .Please find below the reference link

According to the bug it's not yet fixed and the bug has appeared in Qt 4.7.
