Hmm. So you use Nokia's signing venue.

AFAIK, you must sign your app with the key and cer files provided by Nokia (SIS builder in Carbide), and upload them as None or Symbian Signed for Nokia (not sure here)

I have never used Carbide. I have only Qt Creater. I can you Qt Creater Right?

or, if you have a limited company, just get a publisher ID and start signing yourself.

Yes but up until recently it was the only option for publishing an application. Also if you want to publish to other app stores you will need to Symbian sign it anyways. Mind you some of the other stores will now sign your app for free, at least Handango does anyways.
    Cheers,
    Jon

But unsigned application can be installed, right? I guess it can't be published through Ovi Store. But we can distribute it through net. Am I right?

No unsigned apps can be installed. If you distribute an unsigned app, then whomever downloads it, must first sign it, before they can install it.

Unsigned apps can be installed if the user enables this in the software options of their phone, no sensitive capabilities are used and the UID is of the 0xE range.

Symbian apps must be, at least, self-signed. Unsigned .sis files won't install at all.

    Hi petrib,
as I always use a dev cert of OSO, I cannot really comment on totally unsigned SIS files.

    So I can but apologize...
