How to get IMEI number from MIDlet

Hello, May i know how to get the IMEI number of a mobile into my MIDlet?
I wish to use the IMEI number to identify the user. So, i need to get it in my MIDlet application.
I heard that i need to sign my MIDlet.(I am not clear at it.)
Anyone can help me,please......

No, signing will not help you. If the device won't give your unsigned app the IMEI number, then you're out of luck. You will get the IMEI number only on some Series 60 devices.
