5230 and gmail

I have only recently bought this phone. I set it up correctly, so fas as I can tell. When I enter the inbox it connects and downloads messages. The next time I try I get prompted to confirm that my user name and password are correct. So I choose yes and it fails to connect. If I re-enter the password it connects. This is very frustrating having to enter my password every time I want to use it.

Has anybody else experienced this and, if so, how did you solve the problem
