Want to know more about DHCPInform packets

Dear all,

I been reading about the DHCPInform packets but not very understand about it and want to know more. I did some trace in network and found that there are DHCPInform packets.
From our Nokia phones, what is the circumstances that DHCPInform packets will be sent out? Is it depending on the application we used, for example when sending MMS?
Is the DHCPInform packets only sent out by Nokia phones which have Symbian?

Please share with me if any documentations describing more detail about this.

You may want to read the related RFC, http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2131.txt
Technically it should be possible to find the DHCP implementation of the devices in the open source Symbian code (you can request FTP access to it as described at http://developer.symbian.org)

Hi wizard_hu, thanks for your reply. I had a look at the rft2131, I understand the DHCP flow at the beginning to obtain an IP address. I still cannot think of a scenario in which DHCPInform packets is sent from phone... Could you give some examples or scenarios of user activity that trigger phones are sending DHCPInform packets? Please kindly shed some light...
