    Hello..
I tried building HelloWorld project in Carbide.c++ using Symbian c++ S60 2nd edition WINS SDK(for S60 2nd Edition initial release).

    Carbide.c++ displays following platforms :
    ARMV5[phone debug & phone release]
    GCCE[phone debug & phone release]
    ARMV5_ABIV1[phone debug & phone release]
    WINSCW [emulator debug].

But i tried for all ,and all gives error like :
BLDMAKE ERROR: Platform ARMV5_ABIV1 not supported by "\CODE\A1\GROUP\BLD.INF"
BLDMAKE ERROR: Platform GCCE not supported by "\CODE\A1\GROUP\BLD.INF" etc.......

i have all in C drive like SDK,IDE,workspace etc.

    what to do?

for 2nd edition you can use Thumb or Armi for target devices only, as well as WINSCW for emulator

But as i said i tried all platform given by Carbide.c++,
so when i use WINSCW platform , gives error like

BLDMAKE ERROR: Platform WINSCW not supported by "\CODE\A1\GROUP\BLD.INF".

Moreover ARMI is not free as i read somewhere in forum.

And no platform like THUMB is displayed for selection to me on Carbide.c++.

    Please Help...

Check the project, and make sure it is made for pre-3rd edition devices. then do chekc your bld.inf file, and remove all other stuff, except the one that defines which mmp file is included, and then delete workspace (I would just do it manually), and then remake the project and worksspace.

ARMV5 is not free, Armi is free, at least it was back then when I did 2nd edition devices still.

In bld.inf you may find a section PRJ_PLATFORMS. It enumerates build targets supported by the given project. Check if it exists and what it contains. You can also try commenting it, which reverts to the default build platforms of the active SDK.
