Who can teach me? Symbian signed related problems.

Hello everybody, and "Symbian Experts"!

I'm beginner.
I hope you will answer my silly questions.
I have some difficult to distribute my applications.

Question1.

I'm going to sign my application as Ovi Publisher.
After signing process, How can I get my signed .sis ?
It seems that I can't download .sis from Ovi Store to my PC's hard drive.

Question2.

I have developed 2 programs. One is myapp which has GUI, another is mydaemon which is a background service program.
mydaemon must be "Autostart" , therefor mydaemon must be signed.
But myapp requires only User capabilities, therefor myapp doesn't need to be signed, that is self-signed.
myapp will embed mydaemon.
In this case, mydaemon can be "Autostart"?

Ans 1: Write to OVI Publisher to get your sis file mostly then will agree.
Ans 2: You need signing if any component of your application SIS has a signed version ... and ofcource if you want it in OVI then you need signing for sure.

1. Read the terms and conditions, you are not allowed to distribute Ovi signed apps through any other channel, that's why you need not have the signed copy.
2. Yes, if you really need to have the daemon in a separate SIS, as long as its package is signed it will autostart, even if embedded in a selfJsigned package.

i have the same kind of question i think.
I have two app
1. backgroundapp.sis (console exe)
2. foregroundapp.sis (GUI app)

backgroundapp.sis runs always and at a particular time it starts the foregroundapp.sis (backgoundapp.sis is a autostart app, and has option to disable the autostart function from foregroundapp.sis)
now I have added the backgroundapp.sis in foregroundapp.pkg file and when i build the foregroundapp.pkg i get foregroundapp.sis which has the backgroundapp.sis.
when I install both the app gets installed in the device
now when i sign the app to publish to OVI do i need to
1. sign the foregoroundapp.sis only whihc already has backdroundapp.sis (without signed)
2. first sign the backgroundapp.sis and then put the signed backgroundapp.sis in the foregroundapp.pkg and then create the foregroundapp.sis and then sign the foregroundapp.sis

Embedding the backgroundapp.sis in foregroundapp.sis is an option, but not the only one. you can also have all the binaries in one SIS file, which requires only one signing.

If you chose to go ahead with the current option, you are now on a special use case, not supported by default by Ovi Publish. You will have to contact them by email, explain what you want to do and ask for their advice on how the submission should be done.
