"segmentation error"

What does segmentation fault mean and why does it happen? i was trying to run the QCAMERA example, with a littile modifications of my own. it compiles fine but when i debug on my phone, the app doesnt even start and i get "received signal from OS : segmentation fault". what does that mean?

when i try the "release" on phone the app doesnt start i get "Process 812, thread 813 stopped at 0x7a901138: A data abort exception has occurred."

it starts, but crashes on start-up, thus check the panic code:http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Panic also you could try adding breakpoints to see where it crashes at.

Yes, add a breakpoint at the very first statement in your main(), and then step through to find out where it crashes. If you're lucky the debugger will even capture a bit of the stack when it crashes.

If it's crashing before you get to main() then likely there's something wrong in the way your package is built.

i hv added a breakpoint at the constructor, but it doesnt reach there and it doesnt even recognise which file caused the error. he app crashes and debugger opens disassembler dump.

First, carefully comb through the console output of the compile/build step and look for any suspicious messages.

the panic code could also be interesting thing to see about, might give a clue on the actual problem..
