How to detect dark image?

Hi,
i managed to take snapshots with device cameras and to transform CFbsBitmap into jpeg data buffers.

Now i'd like to programmatically detect too dark images, but i'm totally newbe in this field. Does Symbian already provide some API (starting from 3rd MR)? Or could you advice me on some starting point to investigate further? I've looked around here but i wasn't able to find something.

AFAIK there us no ready made APIs available, you could read scan lines and pixels from the CFbsBitmap with the APIs provided by that class, but then you would need to still implement your own logic for any image detection issues.

I have to add this feature because already present in code for another platform, so i have the algorthm for a bitmap RGB565; i used "getscanline" as a key for a search and i found a way to access pixels here:

Crossing the two info i should be able to find the answer to my original question... i hope :-)
