2.08 version of Ovi Client supposedly enables application updates for Symbian3 devices
    http://info.publish.ovi.com/?p=1303

Are there more technical details somewhere?

If I introduce a new content item for Symbian3, while it was previously shared with Symbian1, will the Symbian3 users get the new content item without problems, even if the UID is now different?

Don't change the UID, you have no reason to do that. In the best case scenario your existing customers will end-up with the new version installed alongside the old one (bad UX) and in the worse case (if you fail to re-package the application correctly) it will simply fail to install.

OMG, what an announcement. "This feature will be rolled out initially to S^3 devices next week". There is no date at all one the entire page, except for the "© Nokia 2010" (khm...) in the bottom-right corner.
