Enter the Create for Millions contest: Over 1 million euros in cash and prizes

To support Nokia’s new strategy to deliver phones and services for the next billion, the company has just announced the Create for Millions contest. Submit your best Series 40 Java or web apps, and you could win your share of 1 million euros’ worth of cash and prizes.

Developers may submit Series 40 and web apps in any of four categories:

    - In the Know: Apps that focus on news and local information.
    - Fun & Games: Entertainment and gaming apps.
    - Emotional Closeness: Social networking apps.
    - Access to Knowledge: Apps the help consumers improve their lives – education, health, etc.

Within each category, there will be 10 cash prizes, with a top prize of 50,000 euros. These winning apps also will be promoted by Nokia in several venues, including online, social media, and newsletters. In addition, the top app in each category will receive both a free user experience (UX) consultation from Nokia and support from a design agency to create promotional banners.

Three special prizes will be awarded, too.

Any ideas why during the registration in the Country drop down box some countries are missing (like France, Poland, Spain)?

You can select "European Union", but it's weird as other EU countries appear in the list. Also, it says there are 10 prizes per category but it's only announced the 50.000 € prize for the 1st in each category, what about the rest? There's nothing even in the T&C document.

    Hi there!

Now there must be something wrong with the country list, thats a certainity. I could not myself even found FRANCE, which as a country is the founding member of European Union.

I have reported this case further.

    Sorry for any inconvenience!

    Best,
    Marko

I would like to take this opportunity to ask my question about the contest.
Application/game uploaded to Ovi Store could be free or paid?

    Hi,
I’m trying to register for the 'Create for Millions' contest, but I’m not sure my app is eligible, since it supports only a few S40 devices (just the touch 240x320 devices).
Anybody knows the criteria for joining? Is there a minimal support requirement?

    Thanks.

    Hi Ron,
I'm trying to understand - can I submit to the contest an app that, on this stage, supports only the S40 devices with touch screens, or is it required to support additional devices?

    Thanks.

If you have an app(s) to submit that is compatible w/ Nokia Series 40 touch-enabled devices, then that is great. Please plan to enter the contest - and good luck!

Um, well and if it's not Flash Lite of course, that would make it too easy to develop cool things for the competition.

We have 3-4 S40 apps and 1-2 new S40 games we would like to submit, but are unable to since they were created using Flash Lite - works on all S40 devices (touch and keypad, so really can reach millions), yet we cannot submit to this competition. It's a shame.

Should we assume that CAI 10m was the last contest allowing FlashLite content? FlashLite 4 is the last FlashLite version available and Adobe has no more plans to continue with FlashLite, is FlashLite/Flash dead on Nokia?

    Hello,

I have recently learnt about this contest aaand..

    - can we have an extra week past the 20th of September ?
    - are all the S40 devices to be targeted by this contest or only 6th edition, touch / nontouch ?
    - I could greatly benefit from some statistics. Like, target devices (S40) deployment in zones / continents. Any such chart available ? Google says S40 are reaaaaly scarce now on the NA continent...

    Thanks
