S40 Web Apps

Hi there,

Is it possible to develop standalone web apps for S40. IE, apps that have all content packaged into app, so no need to connect to server, If kept within 500k limit?

If designed properly, my thinking is that it may be possible to create a stand-alone Web App that do not need to communicate to the server. Given the restrictions on scripting though, this is almost impossible to do. The docs are not clear on whether resources such as images that are packaged in the WGT file are retrieved locally. It is highly likely that packaged resources are stored on Nokia's proxy server and are sent when requested. Could someone at Nokia clear this up and let me know whats possible and what not. Thanx

Hi Simon,

In this version of web apps, all of the content is fetched from Nokia Browser Proxy.
The 'app' eventually installed to the device is essentially a launcher to the application deployment URL in the proxy.

=> For now, it's not possible to write offline/pure client side apps.
