    Hi

presently we are running java application in nokia 6131 nfc phone with code sign certificate. But this certificate is valid only two year. After expire date if application as any new features again need to deploy new application with new sign certificate. We don't want to purchase sign certificate again. Is there any way without sign or deactivating code signing certificate in Nokia 6131 nfc mobile.

Please help me,is there is any way to deactivate the certificate checking on the Nokia phone.

Hi deepika.chappidi, Welcome to Nokia Developer Discussion Boards!!

If you are interested in free Signing, Nokia Ovi Store provides free Signing for all the apps deployed Via Ovi Store. You can read more about it here http://www.developer.nokia.com/Distr..._signing.xhtml

Even if you dont sign your Java MIDlets, you can install it and it will work fine, but it will be in the UnTrusted domain and permission messages will be asked while using API's like FileConnection, Location and so on..

This is not quite true when it comes to NFC functionality (specifically secure element access) on the Nokia 6131 & 6212. With that specific case, untrusted MIDlets will simply be denied access without any notification (besides the security exception).

    Hallo Deepika,

yes, there is a way to bypass the requirement of an expensive code signing certificate. BUt as recent censoring activities in this forum suggest[1] Nokia does not want their developers to be aware of this fact.

If you set the date/time of your phone back into the validity period of your certificate, then you are able to install your MIDlet. Afterwards, you are able to make the date current again. If you possess no certificate at all …
