Unknown vendor in J2ME application

Hello,
I'm still working with my WahlZufall-App

I ended developing the newest version, but now with the new J2ME SDK 3.0 for Mac Computers. And since I'm using it instead of the Wireless Toolkit, it doesn't want to display the vendor in the details, when installing the app or seeing the details through program-manager.

Using the search I found out, that I should sign the midlet, and I did this via Project Properties > Signing, using

Keystore: keystore.ks
Alias: dummyca

But it still doesn't show the vendor when installing, but now I get a new message that the app could be not certified and contain bad content or something like this...

Would be very happy if you could help me

Where are you getting this error message "app could be not certified and contain bad content" ? Is it in from the SDK ? What is the exact message ?

it is when installing the app on my 5800 or 6110...

first it shows the app data (size, name, content, url and the unknown supplier), and then this:

Security Warning:
Application is untrusted and may be harmful to your phone

I think this both things shouldn't be so, or not?

Unless you sign your app you will get the security warning.
If you want to get rid of that you need buy a Java Signing certificate from either Verisign or Thawte and use that certificate for signing. Also if you submit your app to Ovi Store it will get signed.

looked on Verisigns website: this certificate costs 895 dollar?! hope that signing via Nokia Store is free

One quick addition:
Usually the signing also creates additional hassles, and you will not get rid of all the security warnings so the value of signing is questionable.
If you just want to get rid of the security warning when installing, I would forget it.

And I guess you have MIDlet-Vendor properly specified both in the manifest as well as in the JAD file...? Right?

Some phones do not show the vendor and (near) to all phones show this warning. Ignore it. That is far most the easiest way, unfortunately. Nevertheless, if you go through the Nokia Store, you will get a certificate for free, if, if your MIDlet passes UTI criteria.

If you do not go through the Nokia Store, I do not recommend to (just) go for Thawte, because many Samsung mobile phones and older Siemens ones do not trust them. Therefore go for VeriSign, VeriSign+Thawte or even better go for Java Verified.
