Is it possible to move a published Symbian C++ application in Ovi store to Qt without having to create a new content item?

I suppose you could just release a new, upgraded version with the same UID.

if your content type is "a Symbian application (non-Qt) in Ovi Store" at the moment, I think you need to create a new content item. I'm not sure, but it could be that the "Note: You may be prompted during installation to download a large one-time update for your phone software." -message comes up only if the item is Qt (the store front doesn't recognise the type from the actual file). I would mail support

Unfortunately, the Nokia Publish tool is unable to update the content item type field and you will need to create a new content item for this case. We are looking into providing an option to change the content item type to existing contents however. I will update you when we receive further information on this.

Thanks! Such an option would be very convenient but I think it will need major changes in Ovi client because the old app (e.g. Symbian C++) has to be uninstalled first because else installation of the Qt App could fail.

Stop: I can remember that one can also distribute Qt apps as Symbian C++ items!!!

If your application uses Qt components, it will require the Qt libraries available through the Smart Installer. Only the "Qt Based Application" content item type offers the installation. Please upload applications that require Qt libraries under Qt Based Applications.

By C++ apps, are you referring to the "Symbian application" content type? Can you provide me with the name of your application so I can investigate this? If your content requires Qt dependencies, it should be uploaded as a "Qt Based Application" since S60 devices currently do not have the libraries pre-installed and would require the Smart Installer.

This had been implemented sometime in February; all Qt apps submitted thereafter would be failed if uploaded under any content type besides Qt.
