QT not working

Hi I wanted to create QT apps for my phone Nokia N97 I downloaded QT 4.7.4 from its website installed it created what i needed then I compiled it for the simulator everything worked great so I compiled it for the symbian device I choose the Symbian 1 compiler and downloaded the .sis file into my phone I installed it but when I run it the screen just turns black and nothing happens.The UI doesn't appear. I have used QT before to create apps and never had this problem. I have installed the QT into my phone.

Does your application is simple helloworld Or have some component in it? What kind of control it have?

Yes that was my line of thinking too that something I added wasnt compatible with symbian OS but then I tried to create blank application and I had the same results

I hope you have installed Qt 4.7.4 and you are compiling your application for Symbian^1. Is it so?

Yes, I checked several times and re-installed the software on both the phone and computer but it still doesnt work

You could try...

... to install the app in to the mass drive instead of the c drive.

... to free memory from your phone's c drive.

... to lower the TARGET.EPOCHEAPSIZE from the .pro file.

What about other qt apps? All fail, some fail, all works?

Also, try changing the target (debug/release)

All apps created with the 4.7.4 dont work, but older apps that I wrote some time ago work without a problem

I think Qt 4.7.4 is not ready for S60 5th yet. As for me I will not use any components, which are not supported by Smart Installer. The maximum Qt version, which is compatible with S60 5th is 4.7.3: http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...er_for_Symbian. More over, you can see a very interesting note there:

Note: The Qt 4.7.4 based bundle isn't currently support by Smart Installer for Symbian. Qt SDK has beta level support for this for development purposes. Qt 4.7.4 is being finalized for Smart Installer deployments for Symbian^3 and Symbian Anna devices at the moment and is expected to be released together with Symbian Belle availability. (Symbian Belle has this Qt 4.7.4 based bundle in ROM.)

As you can see, nobody knows when it will be compatible with S60 5th at all.

Well what can be done looks like I will have to downgrade but thanks for your help

FYI, you can have 2 different Qt SDK versions installed simultaneously...
