Change "Messages" layout

Hi,

is there any way (API) to change layout for "Messages" in N9?

I want to make it more compact. When chatting those balloons take a lot of space and most of area contains background (e.g., nothing). I want something like in n900.

I think you could do that editing some style files.
But there is no API to modify style of other apps.

ok, thanks, I will try to look into style files.

Anyway, I think there should be a "normal" way to let users choose appearance, because balloons are not the best idea (don't care if iPhone has it..)
