How to know back light is currently on or off ?

Hi,
I have seen several posts regarding controlling the back light. I don't need to keep the back light on or off, what i need is just to know whether the phone back light is currently on or off or going from "on state" to "off state". Would you help me ?

have you tried CHWRMLight API already, it appears to have LightStatus function that is supposed to give you teh current status.
