I need the Lumia 800 update but its never available through Zune. I use ATT as my primary carrier but they say they aren't testing any updates for the Lumia 800.

How can I get the update?

Here is a post on the ATT developer forums I opened:

Note that even if you use the device for development purposes, device updates still remain to be a topic covered on the end-user site, http://www.nokia.com/discussions
How sure are you about that there is update? I have an operator-independent device and it also version 7.10.8107.79 (so far I updated it once, in January).

The following link describes the update:

    http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/product/lumia800/

My firmware rev number is 1600.2479.7740.11451

My concern is I will never get the update because ATT doesn't sell the phone.

Well I do not have the update neither. If you want to worry even more, check http://discussions.nokiausa.com/t5/N...0/td-p/1278835, apparently the update is available (somewhere) for more than a month by now.
Anyway, it is sure that AT&T has nothing to do with the question, if your device is not branded by them, you will get the update from Nokia. Putting a SIM-card into a phone does not make the phone branded.

Carefully reading the nothing will not really help in fact. You can simply wait and/or visit end-user boards, there you have better chances to find more US-based people. Also devices received from the developer programs may belong to a very different batch than one may buy in a retail store. Apparently the devices do not get the update at the same time.

What reminds me that it would make perfect sense for dev devices to get the update first before anyone else. Its not been the case so far. I got the 11500 update 1 month after some other owners that had branded devices.

The Nokia Lumbia 800 update gives a better battery life and the black light issues are solved.
