ATD command reports 'no dial tone'

I want to interface a micro to a 2330c to dial a number when a switch is closed. Using cable connection I can connect to phone with Nokia suite and with hyperterminal but sending ATD 1234567; results in the reply NO DIAL TONE. This command works OK through bluetooth, why not with cable?

I only have one cable at present though have used another of the same type CA-50 with NokiaSuite in the past.

Brian, are you sure you want a data connection called CSD? If you want a voice connection, you have to add a semicolon (ETSI TS 27.007 chapter 6.2). By the way, CSD is not supported very well anymore. In WCDMA (3G) many networks do not support it at all. In GSM (2G) the remote access point should be digital and with the right service bits set.

It's a voice call I want to make and I put the ; in. Also tried ATDT 1234567; but no joy.

I've tried with no space and with other AT commands. The best I get is AT OK. I tried making a call on the phone then sending ATH. It didn't hang up but returned NO CARRIER. I can send SMS through the cable with Nokia Suite but not from Hyperterminal.

Hi, back again.
I abandoned the cable and decided to go for a Bluetooth link since I know this works with a Nexus usb dongle . I got a neat little module http://www.byvac.co.uk/downloads/dat...0DataSheet.pdf and connected through Hyperterm got it to pair with and link to the phone. But there is no response from the phone at all though the leds on the module blink like they are passing commands through. The module will link with the nexus and can pass text back and forth so it works ok. The only difference I can see is that the Nexus port has an RFCOMM driver and the module port is a plain serial rs232 driver. Could this be the problem?

Which RFComm channel are you connecting? Which UUID are you using for DUN?

Using the Nexus USB on COM40 with the phone ID 2C:D2:E7:C9:D5:89 I can successfully dial a number but on COM10 with the pairing through the serial module there is no response from the phone. Portmon log follows (couldn't see how to attach the file)
