Smart Installer "Installation Failed"

[please_help]

Hi i am trying to use Smart installer to install Standard C++ Library Common(StdCpp) while installing Application.
I downloaded Smart Installer from this link and added SmartInstaller at the end of pkg
I am using S60 3rd edition FP1.

when Smart Installer start installing first Preparing Installation'll come then getting "Installation Failed"
and then it'll ask for Select Connection after selecting nothing'll Install.

Also I suppose you are not having Qt app there, so how did you define the dependency in your applciation sis files pkg file, and how does your smart installer wrapper sis files pkg file look like ?

yes i dont have Qt app. I have not defined any dependency in my app sis pkg.

and how does your smart installer wrapper sis files pkg file look like ?

I missed these two lines and added it in pkg and tried to install

now instarting its asking for
Component 'Symbian OS PIPS Library is missing' Continue anyway?
and then

but it's not installing and again getting Installation Failed.
is there any thing else i have to add?

Basically what you should do, is to have the dependencies included in the sis file holding your applciation, I assume that's right.

So then you should remove the Smart installer from that sis file, and instead use the smart installer wrapper sis: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/smart-instal...er-format.html to actually handle the dependency installation with Smart installer.

And Yes (for your next question), you need to sign your own application sis file first and then pack it with Smart installer Wrapper sis and sign this sis file separately.

Nope, you would never embed the dependencies like STDCPP/PIPS, simply because these are handled with smart installer, so you just have the dependencies written (as you did earlier), so Smart installer can read them and then handle the installation of them

Here Smart Installer start Installing but as i mentioned previously getting "Installation Failed"

getting "Unable to Install". as you told earlier this's bcs of dependency LIB are not there

but that documentation contains explanation about using Smart Installer in qt SDK. there is no separate manual for using Smart Installer in S60 SDK.

Basically the wrapper part is excatly the same, only difference is that when making the pure-Symbian C++ sis file, you need to manually add the dependency lines (the UID's) , so you can indeed use the Qt manual pretty much there.

I was using my app as embedded sis in Smart Installer.pkg
I replaced this

Hi all,
Smart Installer is downloading dependencies and after downloading and installing "Finalising Installation" starts and it'll never complete and
i am not able to cancel also if i select cancel manually then "cancelling installation" starts and it'll never close.

I found out that while installing My app with Smart Installer and if i give FR,RI then every thing goes well
"$(EPOCROOT)Epoc32\release\$(PLATFORM)\$(TARGET)\ZXingBarcodeReader_0x200628fd.exe" -"!:\sys\bin\ZXingBarcodeReader_0x200628fd.exe",FR,RI

but if i give FR,RI,RW then only i am facing this problem. what is the problem with RW??

EDIT: Even exe with FR,RR,RW is executed during Installation only.

Why do you need Run-Waited there ?

Never tried but if you are having problems with it, when packing with Smart installer, could indeed be that it does not like it.
