Hi all,

I got a mail from trustcenter saying ...

we would like to inform you about the upcoming expiration of your TC Publisher ID for Symbian containing the following data:

....
...

does it mean that the apps I already installed will stop working?'

No, the signing has different expiration date, generally you could use the signsis command line tool to inspect the signed sis file to see details for the certificates used in the signing. Note that is there is multiple signings in a file, they are will be taken account, and the first expiring will cause the sis file to be treated as expired.

Im confused here so will this (expiration TC Publisher ID) affect my existing installations?

or does it mean that I cannot get new signing without getting new publisher ID?

Certificates used for signing Symbian installation packages are used only during installation, so there are no effects on installed apps, and as explained also no effect on the sis files in general.

And Yes, you can not sign new sis files with expired certificates, so if you wish to make new sis files and get the signed, you would need to re-new your publicer ID.

thanks things are more clear now

So Publisher Id is used only for signing..
so if I sign a sis and keep it for some time and then try to install after the publisher Id has expired it should be installable right?

As said already, the publicer ID validity is different than signing validity time, so your Symbian signed sis files are not expiring same time as your publicer ID is.

Anyway, as you are developer, you could very simply use the signsis in command line to inspect the validity of the sis file certificates.

I too have similar problem. I am still testing my symbian app on 2 devices only. But according to this link http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...t_Certificates , it says Testing for less than 10 IMEI's Publisher ID is not required. But in that case, do I need to renew my Publisher ID?

sure if you can do the testing with that certificate you can do that, but if you would then want to actually symbian sign the file, then you would need to have the publicer ID anyway.

Probably after I complete the testing and ready to symbian sign then I can renew my publisher ID right, will there be any due date for renewing expired publisher ID?

For that question, you should contact the CA giving you the publicer ID, its basically up to them to decide how the renewing works.

yep, if the choices are Developer and Test house, then you would indeed select Developer in your case.
