Is Flashlite still a valid development tool for mobile?

Hello,

I have been away for 2 years from mobile development, I used to use Flashlite. So, I'm wondering if it is still supported by Nokia, I'm talking about the new devices. Or it is better to move to a new tool?

Adobe has stopped development of Flash Lite. It is also not available on all latest models. So it is still valid alternative for developing for phone models that do have Flash Lite, but not others., and eventually will fade out entirely.

Thanks a lot. But what is the alternative tool I could use ? Flashlite was easy, and I could make it run on different OS.

Closest you can get, as far as portability goes, is through HTML5, i.e., "web apps".

You can still publish FL based games and apps to Nokia Store, as it's still here and if you make a nice enough game / app, you will get something out of it.

Looking forward, WP is the platform for high-end Nokia phones. Development is easy as well. Expression Blend have many things adopted from Flash Pro, like timeline. And you use VS2010 for development, which is really easy to code with. I'm also doing my experimentations on WP as well.

For low-end devices, Nokia is now pushing S40 platform to developers. I see many webcasts going on recently. The new S40 devices are quite fast (800MHz-1GHz processors) compared to the older Nokia S40 devices, as well as they now feature full capacitive touch. See latest Asha 303 and 304, both being marketed as smartphones
