I have absolutely no experience with NFC, but reading the articles containing your code piece and also checking their date of origin, I tend to think that this is a shortcut, specific to either Series 40 devices in general or to perhaps to the NFC pioneering few only, the really old ones.

Nokia 6131 NFC allows MIDlets to access the MiFare side of the internal secure element of the phone. The internal connections to the MiFare side are opened by directly calling Connector.open() and using the “internal.mf.url” system property. The DiscoveryManager isn't needed.

However, based on exactly what it writes I would think that there is a longer way for getting the URL, using DiscoveryManager, whatever that could be.
And browsing the Wiki brings http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu...BB%8B%E7%BB%8D for me for example. While I do not speak or read a single word in Chinese, the codes on the page seem to use DiscoveryManager, and also the page itself is just a little bit more than one year old, mentioning Symbian^3 and the Nokia C7 in particular. Besides the two snippets on the page it links some other ones in .zip

It is example for Nokia series 40 and examples don"t work on Nokia 603...
Russian technical support tell me that Nokia 603 don't have internal security element.
