Looking at the sample provided, it seems like that for most operations the Nokia Music app is opened. Is there a way to get all the functionality using the API so that there is no need to have the Nokia Music app on the phone?

Is Nokia Music app available only on Nokia phones, or on other Windows Phones as well?

Nokia Music app is only on Lumia, but the API can be used on all phones.
    How can I help?

If that is the case (which I guess makes sense as it is a Nokia app), if I make an app using the Nokia Music APIs, it will not work on other platforms as it uses the Nokia Music app for most purposes, like making song purchases.

Is there a way to launch an app only for Nokia phones then?

    Hi,
the c# API uses Nokia Music on Nokia Windows Phone 8 devices for the best experience, but has a web fall-back on non-Nokia WP8, emulator and Windows Phone 7.
The app on WP8 is required to do the gig, mix playback and purchase use cases fully.
    Regards,
    Steve

We will be expanding the amount of data you can get in apps next year, but not all functionality can be exposed due to licensing terms.
