[Moved] QS60Telephony calling a service command

Hello,

with QS60Telephony
(Wiki entry: How to manage phone calls with QS60Telephony)

how can I call *101# for balance (this is a service command to be sent instead of being actually "called") ?

I get system message No answer.

However, with a normal phone numer like 004917622222222 it does work well!
And when I type normally *101# and press call button, it works and displays the balance.

you should check whether the *101# is USSD or some otehr service, and then use API for the task. As it is not actual phone call which is done with it, you can not use telephony API for achieving the use case.

I have never heard of USSD before, just googled it and was astonished - it has a very short Wikipedia entry

So I downloaded the SDK API Plug-in, S60 5th Edition SDK (Symbian C++) .
It is called Plug-ins for S60 3rd Edition and S60 5th Edition SDKs. My phone is N97, so S60 5th Ed.

Then I started the setup, a warning came up

I clicked on: Unzip to temporary folder.

Then I looked in the folder and did NOT found the phoneclient.lib

They are normally in epoc32/release/armv5/lib, for example QtSDK/Symbian/SDKs/Symbian1Qt473/epoc32/release/armv5/lib.
Because of the similar folder structure, I expected phoneclient.lib to be there, but it is not.

Any ideas?

if the lib is not there, then I would assume its not part of the package. Essentially not all APIs are publicly available. Anyway, you could always try uisng AT commands for USSD sending.

I just found the lib phoneclient.lib and the header file CPhCltUssd.h.

Now, I tested the code from the Wiki that I've linked. Basically it's working, i.e. compiling, deployment and the program starts on the phone.
Then I press the button I assigned that function to.
A System Message pops up: "wait for answer", "request not processed" (no quotes, freely translated from German)
[now changed to system language to English: "Requesting" , then "Request not completed" appears after ~ 0.2 sec (almost immediately)]

I think this is a progress: Now, with CPhCltUssd, the function is interpreted as a request, thus it is tried to be processed instead of a phone call with QS60Telephony.
However, it fails!
