    Hi,

I am developing a windows phone application which contain a maps control. I am interested in getting Nokia maps rendered in the maps control. Is it possible to get Nokia Maps in both wp7 and wp8 devices (including non-Nokia devices like HTC, Dell etc.)?

    Regards,
    Manish

If you want to use Nokia Maps in WP7 then check out this wiki article http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu..._OpenStreetMap
the WP7 apps are compatible with WP8.

unless you want to create a project specific for WP8 then you don't have to worry since the Map control uses Nokia maps data.

    Thanks Loukt for reply.

I just saw that link and came across below warning in the same link, I guess I might have to get Bing maps API key even though I am using Nokia Maps , Is there any other way to get Nokia Maps on wp7 without using Bing maps key?

Warning : To use Map API you need Bing Maps credential : How to: Use the Bing Maps Silverlight Control for Windows Phone

    Hello Sharmanish,

Bing Maps Control needs the Bing maps key to work, even if your using Nokia Maps since you're justing applying the Nokia Layer in the bing maps control.

Is there any specific issue why you dont want to use a Bing Maps API Key? Its free, and very simple to get one. Any particular problem I'm missing?
    Cheers
