color in wml

I´ve read wml only supports one image style wbmp and that is only black and white images. how come I was on a wap site where I could see color gif images (for download). my phone only support wap1.2.1 how did they do that then?

Hi,

most of the Nokia phones, which have WAP 1.2.1 browser (and all phones with WAP 2.0 compliant browser) support colors and GIF images. Therefore, you can view color images on an WML page. Please see Nokia GSM WAP Phone Characteristics document to find out which image formats are supported in each Nokia phone. The document can be downloaded on www.forum.nokia.com/documents.
